Whenever I buy a Windows machine, formatting the drive and re-installing the OS using the official MS ISO is the first thing I do. It is available for Mac OS 10.4+, Windows XP/Vista/7/8, and Linux. It was harder in those days to get an official copy of the installation media, but MS now provides the official ISOs on their website for Windows 10 and 11.

I haven’t had any instances of malware since Windows XP, but back then, I formatted the hard drive and completely reinstalled the OS to be sure no remnants of the malware remained. And Ardour 6.8.119 32 Bit is now running with Windows 10 64 Bit.
